The Village of Oriskany is proud to announce their participation in the Hometown Heroes banner program.
What is the Hometown Heroes Banner Program?
Families purchase banners to honor veterans who were born, raised or resided in the Village of Oriskany. Banners cost $150.
The Village provides the hardware and arranges for the banners to be hung each year. ($70)
Banners are displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day for three consecutive years.
Banners will be randomly hung (with no exceptions). We cannot honor requests for placement.
After three years, the banners are returned to the purchaser. A family may choose to purchase another banner to be hung for another three-year period.
Who is eligible for a banner?
To qualify for this program, the individual being honored must have served in one of the United States Armed Forces and was either born, raised or resided in the Village of Oriskany.
How do I purchase a banner?
There are two ways to purchase a banner:
Use the Mohawk Valley Hometown Heroes Program web site where you can design, order and pay for your banner: mohawkvalleyhometownheroes.com
Pick up an order form at the Oriskany Village Office, the Oriskany Library, the
Oriskany Museum, Oriskany American Legion Post 1448 or online at oriskany.org. Instructions for mailing are included on the form.
NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR PURCHASING A BANNER FOR THIS YEAR IS MARCH 31, 2024. BANNERS PURCHASED BY MARCH 31ST WILL BE HUNG BY MEMORIAL DAY.
How can I make a donation?
Donations to the Village to offset the cost of hardware are welcomed. Donations should be made payable to "Village of Oriskany". Please write "Hometown Heroes Hardware” on the memo line of your check and mail to: Village of Oriskany, PO Box 904, Oriskany, NY 13424
