In 2021, the Village of Oriskany began applying for a number of grant opportunities to encourage economic growth and community improvements, including the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI).
For 2024, the Village Board of Trustees moved to apply for the village and hamlets category, known as New York Forward, which will award $4.5 million to two communities in the Mohawk Valley Economic Development Region.
What would you do in your community if funding wasn't a concern? The grant allows us to partner with public, non-profit, and private entities to create a vibrant downtown area with a sense of place. It could be updates for your own business, an improvement you would like to see in our public parks, accessibility concerns or something else entirely!
