The Village of Oriskany will hold a public hearing by teleconference at 6:45 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 before the regular board meeting. The hearing is for a local law to temporarily prohibit large scale solar projects for up to one year. Large Scale Solar Installations, as defined by the law, specifically "do not include any solar panel collection system or array undertaken by individual landowners, householders or farmers for their own personal use or the use of a business owned by them.
This moratorium will allow the village to "study and analyze many considerations that affect the preparation of local legislation to regulate the future creation and siting of large scale solar installations."
The legal notice for this hearing is included below, along with the full text of the law. Please note this law was drafted in late 2020, but will be known as Local Law #1 of 2021 if adopted.
